How to sort "days of the week" dimension in chronological order? Data pulled from AdWords.

Hello,

as the title says: I am looking for a way to order the days of the week; specifically from alphabetical (friday - monday - saturday - sunday - thursday - tuesday - wednesday) to chronological. The data is pulled from AdWords.

I've read the suggestion that I should allot the individual days their appopriate number (like 0-6 or 1-7), but this generally seems to apply to Google Sheets.

I also tried to change the type of the "day of the week"-dimension from "text" to "day of the week" in the "create new dimension"-tab, which didn't change anything (i.e. days continued to be shown in alphabetical order); and also from "text" to "numerical", which merged all days to a "null"-value.

Is there a way to transform the days into actual numbers, or just rename them if possible (like 01-monday, 02-tuesday etc.)?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I just had to add a number to the days of the week and then sorted them in by that column in Ascending order.

Example:

1 Sunday

2 Monday

3 Tuesday

4 Wednesday

5 Thursday

6 Friday

7 Saturday

If you select the column with the dates in your spreadsheet you can just do a find and replace for each day and it goes pretty quick.

Hope this helps!

But that was my question:

HOW do I add these numbers to data entries pulled from AdWords? Because as things are now, as far as I can tell there is no way to do that.

Have you tried creating a calculated field using the date functions to convert your dates into numbers?

See https://support.google.com/datastudio/table/6379764?hl=en for more info.

Another way would be using the CASE function to output a different number for each day of the week.
