Google now requires more reviews for Seller Ratings to show in ads

Have you guys seen this SearchEngineLand article about Google requiring more reviews for Seller Ratings?  I realize it's unofficial and may be suspect, but it would be devastating for a few of my smaller non retail clients who maybe only do 10-15 jobs a month.

 

Anyone hear about this anywhere else?

It's official, the policy doc was updated last week:  https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375474?hl=en

 

"In most cases, your business must have at least 150 unique reviews — each from the past 12 months."

Ugh. That's a lot of reviews for a small business.

If anyone from Google is reading this - this is a garbage decision for small businesses.

My company completes around 300 orders a year, high value, bespoke works. Over the last year we have accumulated 85 genuine, independent reviews - 99% excellent.

Yet this isn't enough for Google? It's impossible for us to generate that many reviews, even the leading review companies state that they convert around 20% of customers into reviews.

This is extremely damaging for small businesses. Seems Google is only out to help the big guys.
