Malicious review

Hi guys --

 

I posted this over at Google Search groups and Eric Gehler referred me to you.   He said I had already followed the procedure correctly, by getting many people to flag the review as inappropriate.   But it's still up. 

 

I volunteer for a local non-profit and we recently got a malicious one star review from someone who has never visited our center. I had people put up positive reviews, and I also asked them to flag the review as inappropriate. However, as of a week it is still up. This same person has attacked us on Facebook. Is there a way of expediting the process that Google uses to remove negative reviews?

Hey Wendy,

Google rarely removes reviews that are negative but I'll go ahead and escalate this to see if there is anything they can do.

No, I have not heard back from Google yet. I rarely hear back that fast. It
usually takes them several days to investigate. They get a ton of reports
like this.

I'll let you know when I hear back.

It's probably not the answer you were hoping for :( Here is what they said: After a careful review of the comment, we have come to a conclusion that it does not violate our review guidelines - review platform can be used to share both positive and negative sentiments and this particular case does not violate our policies.

The thing is that this person has never visited our center, and he has made
malicious comments on our Facebook page. The comments have nothing to do
with our center.

The thing is that it may be his perception that our tradition is affiliated
with another group, which has since dissolved, but that isn't really true
either.

So, in effect, this comment is irrelevant to our center.

I know that he works at another Buddhist center, and I have made a
complaint to that center. But I haven't gotten a reply.

Is there someone that I can talk to directly?

If you want to call GMB phone support you can speak to Google directly. I doubt they are going to tell you anything different than what this Googler got back to me with but you are welcome to try: https://support.google.com/business/contact/business_c2c_l?hl=en&rd=2#cft=5
