Hi All,

Thanks for the time.

I have a question regarding the negative match type keywords.

scenario:

I have three adgroup within the campaign(exact, phrase, BMM). Three of theme containing same keywords

egSmiley Happy Exact : [ bathroom windows]

        Phrase : "bathroom windows"

          Broad : +bathroom +windows

Below is my ideal set up:

 Scenarion 1:

Exact ad group : no ad group level negative keywords

Phrase ad group : negative exact match type. egSmiley Happy [ bathroom windows]

BMM ad group:    negative exact match type egSmiley Happy [ bathroom windows]  and

negative phrase match type egSmiley Happy "bathroom windows"

Scenario 2:

Exact ad group : no ad group level negative keywords

Phrase ad group : negative exact match type. egSmiley Happy [ bathroom windows]

BMM ad group:   negative phrase match type egSmiley Happy "bathroom windows"

Difference is in BMM I use only negative phrase match type.

Which is the best practice and why?

Thanks for the time , I'm looking forward to the discussion

adding [bathroom windows] and "bathroom windows" as negative keywords for the same ad group is redundant, since the phrase matched negative will block the exact query.

However, I also think the phrase match and BMM keywords are redundant here, too. Having an exact match ad group for high performing terms is good for tailoring ad copy and having great control over particular search queries, but there is not a huge difference between the traffic you'll capture through "bathroom windows" and +bathroom +windows. You'll reduce your workload and not lose any coverage if you just have the Exact and BMM ad groups.
