irrelevant display network sites
I have been using both search and display for 4 months. Search generated 117 clicks and display network generated 1590 clicks. At first we thought the results were great however when we looked at what websites the clicks were coming from there was absolutely no way that anyone was using our search terms to get to those websites. We sell industrial gas detection equipment and people were clicking from celebrity and game sites. Has anyone else had this experience and do you believe that these are legitimate or fake clicks?

Google search and display network works in entirely different ways.
In search network your ads will be displayed when someone performs a 'search' with your selected keywords.
But in display network Your ads can be automatically matched to websites and other placements when your keywords are related to the sites' content.
In display network no one performs a 'search' on those sites, these ads appear on those pages if the content on the site matches with your selected keywords.
Here is some good practices to make the content network campaigns profitable.
1. Create separate campaigns for search & content networks. This will help you to optimize each campaign for the specific networks.
2. Select targeted keywords or placements.
3. Exclude web pages and sites that is not profitable for your business.
