In the keyword tool how do you get the local search trends column to show up when searching for keywords?  Can I get some instruction on this?

Hi Kate G,

Welcome to the community..!

Check the default Local monthly searches column if you are using the Keyword Tool

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2472679?hl=en

And check Average monthly searches column if you are using Keyword Planner tool

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3141229?hl=en

You can also use Google Trends for in-depth analysis.

Hi,

You can see "Local search trend " by clicking on Columns tab at right side and select "Local Search Trend"

The only issue with the Local Search Trends column in the keyword tool is that it comes as a tiny bar graph representation of last 12 months data, and understanding the variation and significance if very difficult.

Once you download the report it will show the search volume in the last 12 months in number. You need to further analyze it to understand the variations.

I agree with info. I am a bit disappointed. I expected that  "local searches" in the new keyword planner would reflect data from "Google trends"
