adding negative keywords do they neg keywords have to be in the same match type?

When adding Negative Keywords, do the neg kw's have to be in the same match type as the ones in your list? so if I have "shoes" in phrase match but don't want to show for brown shoes does the neg kw "brown" need to be in phrase match?

Hi QBKerry,

 

You can add negative KW in the three major match types:  Broad, "phrase" and [exact].

 

They will all act differently in how they block search queries from matching your keywords.
