Youtube Prerolls

Hey Guys,

I am planning a Youtube Pre roll campaign. i have run one in the past with a 35sec ad and the format was that you could skip after 5 seconds by pressing skip ad.

I have recently seen an ad that was I think 15 sec long. You could not skip it.

Does anyone know if the skipping of the ad depends solely on video length. If I have a 15 sec video will it play to the end or is it a specific ad placement that stops people skipping.

Thanks in advance,

Will

What you're looking for is a TrueView in-slate video ad. It can only be used on videos longer than 10 mins.

That isn't actually what I am after. I am talking about pre roll video ads.

I have noticed that short ads about 15 sec in length don't have the option of skipping after 5 seconds. The only ones I have seen are for discover ireland and possibly Visit NI.

Ahh,

That feature is currently available to classic "full partners" who became partners before April 2012

YouTube says it might roll out more partner features to new partners in the future.

That means that if you cannot upload a custom thumbnail right now, you also cannot use unskipable ads for your videos. All these features may be rolled out to everyone in the future.
