Your tips in finding keywords in other languages!

Languages are pretty important, especially for those of us who want to get maximum exposure. For instance, Spanish is huge for the US, and Chinese is huge for Canada (among other languages).

How does one go about finding these keywords in such other languages?

For example, a client who offers deep tissue massage and various other forms of physical therapy. In English, I will be on my merry way by researching keywords such as "deep tissue massage" and "aroma therapy", etc. But I also know that this particular neighborhood where the client's office is also rife with another ethnic background. I don't speak those languages but what tools do I have at my disposal that will make this easy for me to create a campaign specific to that language?

If I were to take this strategy, I would think to use Google Translate to translate the keywords into those languages, check keyword planner to see their volumes (which in itself is inaccurate, what more when it is of a different language) and blindly create campaigns out of them and cross fingers to receive impressions. This sounds like a cumbersome process to me. So I'm sure all the gurus out there have a way of doing this, especially when they do not have anyone on staff that speaks the ethnic language.

I would like to see what the community does to combat this limitation.

Thanks!

Hi Mark;

This is a nice question;
My advice:  since languages are more of a culture than pure linguistic and grammar, as far as ad-copy, keywords, synonyms, and misspelling, consult with someone who is fluent with the language. "Translate" may bring the wrong results.

One way to make a start on this is to set up a campaign with a few of the core keywords in the target language... run some traffic and then look at the search term query reports - these will give you the next level of keywords... and so on. But - as Moshe correctly points out - without someone who speaks the target language, you could run off along a lot of very bizarre tangents

Thanks Moshe! I totally agree with your recommendation - but unfortunately, I don't have the resources to bring in linguists for the one-off campaign thats in a new language.

This is why I wanted to see what suggestions the community might have to deal with this. Smiley Happy
