Broadly speaking, as you request, option 1 works best whereby you focus on clicks.

This is because have more control over the targeting and amount you pay for your traffic instead of relying on Google to figure it out for you. Sometimes automation works, but it doesn't always replace human instinct through manual bid management.

That's the broad answer. I'd be happy to have a detailed discussion if you like?

I am agree with jack . Your first option of bidding for clicks is the best one among these two because you can automatically traget the keywords which are useful to increse your conversion.  Mentioned by jack is absoultaly correct that no one can beat human instinct . So , just go for it and rest will be automatically be solved out.

Just to add, in order to use the conversion optimiser you have to:

  • have conversion tracking set up
  • Have received 30 conversions in the last 30 days for the campaign.

If you have conversion tracking set up and have received 30 conversions for your campaign, I would recommend trying Enhanced CPC. It's similar to the conversion optimiser but it provides a bit more control with your CPCs.

Just a small correction, In order to be eligible to use conversion optimizer campaign needs to have at least 15 conversions in the past 30 days. Earlier it used to be 30 but then it reduced from 30 to 15 conversions.

Also, as soon as you are eligible to use conversion optimizer, you will see notifications on All Online Campaign Page.

Thanks

Thanks for correcting. I still call it the content network so I sometimes forget about these new changes.

Welcome! I too forget new changes as Google make changes very frequently and sometimes call Display network - content network. Smiley Happy
