What's the difference between +keyword and keyword?

Hello!

I'm familiar with how broad match modified keywords work, but I'm curious what the difference is between a single word keyword with an without the broad match modifier.

Example:

roofing

+roofing

is there a difference in these keywords? If so, could you give some examples?

Thanks, much appreciated Smiley Happy

Hi Nic, the simple answer is synonyms.  See here:

The simple broad match can match against other words with the same meaning (but potentially entirely different words) whereas the Modified Broad Match excludes these matches.

my experience shows that the +modifier will give you more restriction but will expand to plurals and sometimes misspellings and related terms.

I wish it was as controlled as the documentation Google provides states it is but sometimes it acts a little too much like a standard broad match term.

Both options are going to expand to include other terms i.e. roofing shingles, roofing contractors, roofing repair, etc.
