Hi Mike,

It means that the call completed successfully, meaning it was verified (a legitimate number calling in) to be received and then handed off to the actual number (went from Google forwarding number to the business' number). The length of call suggests it was cut off, disconnected or they hung up before the transfer completed.

All the Best,

James

Is this a billable event?  It is possible that the person clicked in error.

Hi Jim,

Any click is a billable event.... but the call itself is free.

  • Mobile ads: If a customer clicks the phone number in your ad on her mobile device, you’ll be charged for a click regardless of whether you’ve enabled verified calls. There’s no additional charge for the call.
  • Manually dialed calls: If a customer dials the phone number in your desktops ads, the call will be reported for free. If you receive a click elsewhere on the ad, you'll still be charged for a click.

Kind Regards,

James

That is dissapointing. Clearly there is no intent from the user to have made the call(click). This could be easily be adjusted on your end to not bill or allow for a credit.

For some keywords this represents a significant cost and %of budget, without benefit to the advertiser.

Hi Jim,

Please note that some of those clicks are automatically added back as invalid clicks, but not all of them will be.

In essence, all forms of advertising (TV, Radio, Print, Signs, Digital, etc.) will always have a level of waste, in you will, that simply cannot be overcome.

And sometimes a unique keyword will bring a high level of wasted budget without much of a benefit and those should be removed from use. Also, with AdWords Express (or AdWords), if an account holder sees a level of invalid clicks that is concerning to them, they would want to interact with support and ask for assistance.

With that said, I do understand what you are saying and I agree completely that any wasted ad budget is disappointing.

Kind Regards,

James
