Website changed from http:// to https:// - Adwords implications

Hi, last Friday my website was updated from http:// to https:// and I didn't immediately realise how this would affect my Adwords account.  I have manually changed every URL I can find on all sitelinks, ads etc.  I have even re-typed every search query in Editor!  But still my Adwords is only getting 2 or 3 hits a day, using just £2/3 of my budget. Any suggestions anyone please?

Before the change to https, was the http website getting more clicks? Usually the http URL redirects to https automatically once they click the link. So it shouldn't affect AdWords that drastically. You might lose Quality Scores points for pagespeed or something along those lines. But if your QS is still good, it shouldn't cause a steep drop off in clicks/traffic.

Could there be other reasons behind the lack of clicks?

My website/Adwords account is only 6 weeks old so not enough data to really
say but yes there was a sudden noticeable drop off. I have deleted every
search term and manually re-written, as well as checked every URL in every
sitelink, every ad....everything! Time consuming, but as I'm a new account
with limited data so far, it has been manageable. There may well have been
an easier way to sort this but yesterday I had my busiest day yet so I
guess it must have worked! Thanks for your reply.

Well when you update your ads, they usually have to be reapproved by Google. The same thing goes for keywords, Sitelinks, etc, etc.

Sometimes the approval process can take up to 24 hours. So when you updated all the keywords, sitelinks, ads, etc it could have stopped everything and put it all through the approval process again. Which would seem like a steep drop off.

Glad everything is back to normal and you had a great day!
