Does anybody have an opinion/experience of using Search only instead of the default Search and Display that is set as default for shopping campaigns?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Wesellstoves t

Deciding which campaign type you want to invest in depends on what your goal is for advertising on Google. If you are more interested in branding (getting your name out there and having people hear about you), Display-Only campaigns are the way to go. In Display, you have the option of setting up display keywords, placements, topics, interest & remarketing, and demographics. You can choose whether you want anyone and everyone to see your brand or only people who are already in the market stoves (I'm using this as an example because of your name).

Search Only is for people who are searching for your specific services. You can have keywords including your company name (as long as it is not against any type of policy) and anything you think a potential client would search (for example: Stove Stores). You also have the freedom of deciding how much you want the bid to be on each keyword and what time they show.

There is much more information on the AdWords support pages that will give you extensive insight into each campaign type and will be more helpful in revealing which type best suits you!

I have attached a support page titled, 'About AdWords Campaign Types'

Two support pages. One titled, 'About Display Network Only Campaigns' and the other, 'About the Google Display Network'

I hope this helps,

Hi Jillian,

Thank you so much for all the useful information you provided. I know that regarding a normal ad words campaign, it is suggested that if your goal is conversions you should focus on the search network. What I was wondering was, if the same rules apply to a shopping campaign?
