Should I use placement targeting in CPA campaign?

I have placement setting before in my campaign before I switch to CPA bid strategy.

 

Now when I have CPA bid strategy:

  1. does this setting play any role?
  2. Should change placement setting because of switch from CPC to CPA?

Is it a Display network campaign only where you are using CPA bid strategy to achieve max ROI?

 

It would actually depend upon you when you look at the statistics whether adding the placements is helping you out even if you switched to CPA bidding or not.

 

You can compare the stats like when you were using CPC bidding and now that when you are using CPA bidding. The data should be healthy in a way that one month or more than that (for example) Based on the statistical analysis, you might think about it. Also, when you add placements as Managed placements, probability of getting more impressions, clicks will increase as compared to if you are using automatic placements.

1) Yes, placements still have role even I use CPA?
2) Therefore even I have CPA I should take care of placements?

Hello,

 

I would suggest adjusting the CPA bid for the ad group level since Conversion Optimizer is going to automatically adjust and show your ad during the ad auction. That's my understanding.

Hi Lukas,

 

I am just trying to answer your question in straight manner here.

1. yes you can use CPA for your placement campaigns.

2. you still have to take care of the placements (managed), because CPA is just about bidding, adwords will analyze your existing placement performance history and will adjust the bid accordingly to bring conversion on defined CPA.
