%Served Ads Performance Issues

Hi All,

I'm having a few problems with an account i'm working on.

At the moment i would like to test the 3 ads for each adgroup that i have created. However what's happening is that the ads are not rotating evenly.

Here is an example :

Ad1 %Served : 30.17%

Ad2 %Served : 8.28%

Ad3 %Served : 4.44%

I've disabled some ads this week which is why the numbers don't tally up.

So Ad2 has a CTR which is double that of Ad1, so obviously it's in my interest to try and show this one to test against the others evenly.

I've set on Rotate Evenly and Rotate Indefinitely but they don't seem to be working.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @ezdotcom2;

Keep in mind that "rotate evenly" would not necessarily bring all impressions to be even. Rotate evenly will "compensate" lower performing ads and try to show them more frequently than if they were to be shown under "optimize for click". However, since the quality of the ad plays a major factor (in the decision) which ad is shown, as much as the system would attempt to show the lower performing ads,  they might not  be shown;

Hi ezdotcom2,

Did you set the date range to where all these ads were active and no other ads were active? If you're not using optimizers, rotation should be at least close to even.

Best of Luck!

Hi Pete,

Nowhere near unfortunately!

Yesterdays stats for four ads :

0.97%
67.01%
15.99%
4.36%

It's quite frustrating as we have some great offers / landing pages but their just not getting the impressions and or the traffic to test.

Shouldn't the CTRs match or at least have some correlation with the %Served?

Hi ezdotcom2,

If your ad rotation settings are "even", the CTR should not be correlated with the %served at all. Check your bid strategies. Make sure you don't have a bid or conversion optimizer in place.

One more question I haven't asked yet. Is this a Search or Display campaign/ad group?

Rotation works a little differently for a display campaign. There are other factors to consider.
