Question W/O a Home, how to speed up AdWords

I manage a large number of accounts. Switching between accounts and pages can really use up a lot of time. How can I made AdWords run faster? Is it a RAM hog? CPU hog? Largely network dependent? I build PC's for fun, but iMac's are foreign to me. How can I optimize my PC to optimize my optimization?

Hey Chris, how are things?

Since you talked about "Switching between accounts and pages" I'd recommend you to use one type of account called Manager Account (formerly known as MCC or My Client Center) in case you don't. This type of account is able to gather various accounts inside, so you don't have to switch between accounts by logins. Here's more information about it: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6139186?hl=en

This will certainly speed up somethings. Now, another feature that might help you is the Google Adwods Editor program. It's a software for you to download and manage accounts online. You can do a bunch of changes and upload them all at once, it's so easy! Take a look here: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2484521?hl=en

Now, regarding the PC optimization, this is more hardware related. You should consider increasing Processor and specially Memory on your computer, this will provide more power for you to work with a bunch of things opened, but that's not just it. I'd suggest for you to go to a PC forum and see what those guys recommend about performance, and how to get more of your PC Smiley Happy

Hope this helps.

I use an MCC. My concern came from checking between accounts. For instance, when I am adding funds at the beginning of the month to each account (pre-pays), over an hour is spent just loading the next account. I was concerned the bottleneck might be RAM.

I agree. This seems to be either a machine performance issue, or an internet connection issue;

Hello, Chris. The web UI is indeed resource-intensive. I can clearly see the difference between an old laptop, a Chromebook, a newer desktop and a MacBook Air. Faster processors and more RAM definitely helps, because there's a lot of client-side (read browser) processing in order to render a page. Lots of http calls, lots of page elements that are changed while rendering the page.

What helped me in this case was to create bookmarks and save them in a Google Sheet (but you can also use plain browser bookmarks). I'm pulling data from several accounts into a Google Sheet and since that's where I decide if and what action needs to be taken, I added direct links to certain sections of certain accounts. So whenever I want to go to account A section X, I click a link. Account access, for instance, where you can see and edit which users can access a certain account, has a link of this type: https://adwords.google.com/um/AcctPref/Home?__c=xxxxxx&__u=xxxxxxxx&authuser=0&__o=cues#access. Search terms for all campaigns are here: https://adwords.google.com/cm/CampaignMgmt?authuser=0&__c=xxxxxx&__u=xxxxxxx#r.ONLINE.key_st&app=cm (I replaced my account-specific parameters with xxx. Granted, you'll still wait for the page to load and render but at least you'll skip some intermediate steps. And, like I said, if you can get a good i7 with loads of RAM, your browser will probably thank you Smiley Happy.

Hope it helps.
