Neg Location contains same city as my target city. Will ads show?
I have selected location targeting so that Scotland is a negative location.
I have a campaign that targets New South Wales, a state in Australia. There is a town in New South Wales called Aberdeen, which is also a city in Scotland.
Which setting do I have to choose in order for my ads to show to people is Aberdeen, Australia, but not to people in Aberdeen, Scotland? In settings, do I exclude:
People in, searching for, or who show interest in my excluded location (recommended)
People in my excluded location
Will the fact there is a town with the same name affect my targeting? (disclaimer, I think it will, I've seen evidence of this, but I wanted to ask what your experience is)
Re: Neg Location contains same city as my target city. Will ads show?
Hi @Ryan G,
There are a few important thing here -
- Keep targeting New South Wales as you are doing right now
- But, under Advanced Location Options, choose People in my targeted location
It should not show you ads to people in Scotland. But, to be at even safer side, get ahead to exclude Scotland.
The above setting will not show your ads to people in Aberdeen, Scotland, but will show to people in Aberdeen South Wales.
