Managed Placements Not Receiving Impressions

I have about 20 websites identified that I want to manage very closely.

I have added these websites to a seperate display network campaign. I have double checked campaign settings 10 times.  I've talked to AdWords, and the only advice they have is of course, "bid more."  I still can't get any impressions.

My bids are at $30 per click. Just to test, I'm bidding $30 a click on mail.google.com!

All of the placements have the same message:

"Due to the quality of your ad or landing page, you are not receiving all available impressions."

Yet, when these same sites where in a broadly targeted, research oriented campaign they showed up just fine for ~$2 per click.

What gives?

That seems a good idea. Generally speaking website owners have some control over what ad formats they want to allow to display on their properties and you may bump into requirements set by them. Especially if they changed their settings recently. In such cases you are advised to study carefully what ads actually show up on your managed placements.

Boilerplate is boilerplate you are right. But we in the forum don't have access to your account to customize an answer. Hence we usually focus on most frequent causes.

Hi Rtsmaster,

Based on your description the only thing I can tell you is that managed placements usually take quite a few days to get into gear. Just be patient, $30 should of course be sufficient unless you are attacking very special sites. But the experience under automatic placements seems to suggest that they are everyday websites.

Best,

Lakatos

Thanks for the response.

The campaign has been live for 6 days.  I need to wait longer than that?   Also, I received this from an AdWords rep this morning.  The first sentence isn't even complete:

You may want to check the coloring and fornt style of the site your are advertising on and try to adjust your ad to have the same style while trying to sta

The campaign in question is running text ads.  This is what the I rep and I discussed.

Therefore, I would say that referencing ad style, mispelling stuff, and not completing the sentence is simply a lazy answer from the adwords rep.

Especially after waiting four days to "hear from a specialist."

Hello rtsmaster1;

I'm jumping in, to ask if you are using keywords and broad reach in your settings (for the display network campaign)?

Good question. If you are I'd give it a shot without keywords.

Yeah, I saw your other thread, and tried that.  No luck.

I decided to pause my current keyword (research oriented) campaign, and broaden the targeting of my managed placements campaign to act as a broad, research oriented campaign in order to generate impressions.

Then, after I receive some impressions/clicks, start restricting the targeting.

Hopefully this works.

Thanks for the help.

I have a similar situation.

I was going to create a new post but I figured I'll ask here. I am doing managed placement (without kw) on a specific page at specific URL. I matched the image size to what the site accepts. My bid is set to $5 CPC. Ad is approved but no impression. It's now 5 days since ad approval.

Here is the strange thing. I also run a broad keyword targeted image ad campaign (like the original poster) and I see impressions on that specific page the same day after launching the broad search campaign. Do Publishers have the ability to block Advertisers from doing Managed Placements or I am doing something wrong. I see this on quite a few sites where keyword targeted campaigns show ads (at a significantly less CPC) and nothing in MP campaigns.

Thanks,
Marlon

I would appreciate some insight to this occurrence.
