Can there be a clash between keywords from search and display campaign? Are they treated seperately even if they are in the same Adwords account?

Yes they are separated. Your keywords for display are all considered "Broad".
They can clash only if competitor has search ad which competes with your display ad.
That is only situation where is possible to confront these "head to head".
Regards.
