Hi Ramesh,

Only one keyword in your Adwords account can trigger an ad per search term. When multiple keywords in your account match a search at the same time, Google use certain preferences to decide which keyword will trigger the ad.

Find more details in https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2756257?hl=en

Hope this helps,

Deepak

Hi Ramesh,

It means that the same keyword is running in another ad group in the same campaign. Check for the duplicate keywords.

Thanks,
Richa

Hello Ramesh Bhatt,

To determine if a keyword is not showing ads due to a conflict with another keywords (possibly with a higher ad rank) , the ad preview often does not tell you what other keyword triggers the ad.

There is another way of checking this issue :  go to the ad group of the keyword you want to check , in the keywords tab and select the button "Details", option "Keyword Diagnosis" , this will show you for every keyword in that ad group if it is running or not .

Even if it says "Low bid or Quality score" , hoover your mouse over the info bubble icon on the status column to see what is actually going on with that keyword, it could say "This keyword is triggering other ads with a similar keyword : ............"

This task of running a keyword diagnosis should be done on accounts on a weekly basis, or after adding a large amount of keywords.

Please see the example message below :

Why should this be the case even for adgroups with different landing pages?

Hi Jeffrey,

Only one keyword can trigger an ad per search term from you account.

When multiple ad groups have keywords that match a search term, the AdWords system must make a more complex decision. This is because different ad groups might have different ads, landing pages, and campaign settings. All of these differences can result in different experiences for customers, and can result in different Quality Scores for similar keywords in different ad groups.

You can read more about this under 'Multiple keywords within multiple ad groups are similar to the search term'

Hi Deepak, does this mean that you can't use the same keyword with different match types any more? I had done this but got the message "Keyword used by another ad". Thanks!
