Is it okay to have more than 4 sitelink extensions? Will the campaign perform better if there are more than 4 sitelink extensions?

Hi Matthew,

Welcome to AdWords community,

Yes, you can add upto 20 Sitelink in one ad group.
It is always a good practice to add more Sitelink in a ad group, as google also show you upto 6 Sitelink with the ads, based on the performance.
Thus add Sitelink as much as you can add but upto 20.

plz read more about sitelink here :- https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375416?hl=en

Hi Matthew

I know your thread was answered, and I want to assist with more hints :

A new feature which could help you getting more Ad space is editing some descriptions for the sitelinks, as explained here :

http://adwords.blogspot.ro/2013/06/give-your-sitelinks-additional-detail.html

Also you need to bid for the first 3 positions in order to have any impact on the campaign with the sitelinks. These do not appear for ads in positions 4 to 11 on the right hand side.

The logic behind sitelinks is to expand the offer and provide more control . If you advertise a cheap tablet with 8 Gb memory, your sitelinks could offer more choices , a 16 gb tablet, a variant with 3G calling, a variant with GPS. The buying decision is accelerated by offering visitors more choices at once, this is why the CTR can increase.

If you are into coding , there are more complicated things you can do with sitelinks, explained here :

https://www.en.adwords-community.com/t5/User-Articles/Using-ValueTrack-To-Generate-Dynamically-Chang...

Good luck !

In general, I'd say that six sitelinks is a good number for a campaign. (That's assuming that your website has enough depth of content to offer six valuable sitelinks.)  Four is not really enough--you want to give enough variety to allow your sitelinks to be 'matched' to search queries in the best way.

Hope that helps!
