Hey Sheldon,

Could you give us more of a background on what all you ave tried with AdWords so far.

On the first looks of it.. If visibility (impressions and clicks) is all you want... the display network is your best bet..

but Again.. Since you want to advertise only for Montreal.. I suggest a localized campaign for the Search Networkgeo targeting only Montreal or nearby areas that you service(since you have phone support as well).

Could you clarify what your geo target is so that we can suggest a startegy accordingly.

If you want to get more calls, Call Extensions would also be a good option.

Since you provide phone support only during working hours.. you can schedule ads with the phone numbers in them during that time...

You could modify your ad texts to be more problem solution oriented..

"Have a problem with your Laptop?

Call us now on XXXXXXXXXX and we will

Have it fixed in to time!"

This may help..

You could also specify what systems you can handle.. "we repair all models and brands of laptops and PCs.."

Your ad texts could also say that you are authorized retail shop for all brands...

Structuring your account problem wise would probably enable you to be more specific in you ad copies.

for example:

Campaign1# Hardware Issues

Adgroup#1: mouse

Adgroup#2: keyboard

Adgroup#3: screen

Adgroup#1 can have keywords like: mouse not working.. trackpad stopped responding.. etc...

and your ad copy for this could read "having trouble with your computer mouse? Call now and we will have it fixed" basically more related to the users query...

If you give us more details as to what you want to achieve and a little more background on your current AdWords account it would be great!

Cheers,
Shweta

oo.. I forgot.. sitelinks

for generic keywords like "local laptop repair".. you could have an ad with upto 4 different problems mentioned in the ad copy itself!

You could see this link for more detials: http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2375416

HI Sheldon

Great suggestions from Shweta above Smiley Happy

How about trying location extensions?  I would set up a localised campaign and then I would use location extensions to show users how close your shop is to them, you can then add your business address and your contact details from there. As suggested here, it's just like having an online business card and a great way to raise awareness of your business but alos encourage people to come to the shop. You should set up a Google places account to do this.

I've also included an article giving advice on how to improve your account for use with location extensions. Please log into your account and follow the suggestions that are appropriate.

Please do post and let us know your current strategy so we can make suggestions that are suitable to your needs Smiley Happy

I hope this helps you, good luck

Best Regards

Thank You Mini.  I am trying to increase traffic to my site but I would like it to be local traffic (Montreal, Canada).  I also have another dilema: Montreal is a bilingual city (French, English) and I am not certain how to promote my business to both languages.  My site is right now only English but I will be making it Bilingual in the next few months.

What I have done in the past is had a very small adwords budget and used the keywords recommended by adwords.

Presently my ad reads:

Hi sheldon

Are you currently opted into the search partner network? If not, this will provide an additonal 10 to 15 % more traffic for you and this traffic like search is generally high quality.

Make sure you continue to split test ad text variations to help boost click through rate! High lighting key benefits in your ads will help, such as:

Computer repairs location
$0 callout, no fix no charge,
We come to you, call now
Www

What match types are you using because if you re only using exact and phrase match thats definitely going to chock off a lot of traffic?

As for your website, do you feel it's converting well for you?

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi there,

In terms of promoting your business to both French and English speakers, the ideal way to do this would be to have two different campaigns (one English and one French) and have English language ads in the English ad group and French language ads in the French campaign. You could also send your users to the different versions of your website based on which ad they click on. Furthermore, you could also have language specific keywords in your respective campaigns so your keyword list could be more specific and relevant to your users.

In the meantime (until your site is bilingual) it may be best to carry on with your English language campaign, but when you get the French version of your site up and running, splitting your campaigns out by language like this might help you create a better experience for your customers.

Hope this helps!

A.

And if you add location and call extensions you can then take the phone number out of your ad - you win a line.

also - make more of the display url... you can add text (doesn't have to be a page on your site) after your name so after the .com add

HSCMontreal.com/ComputerRepairs

or similar (up to the 35 character max)
