I Need Some Advice On Eliminating Wasted Clicks

Hi,

I'm fairly new to Google Adwords. I do marketing for a Minnesota job shop that does business with manufacturers across the country. Currently, I am running two ad campaigns targeted at 7 different states. While I'm getting clicks from visitors in each of my targeted states, several of the search terms used included phrases such as "in Illinois" or "in Michigan" which obviously aren't getting me conversions.  What can I do to eliminate these types of clicks without excluding these states from my geotargeting?

You could add these states as negative keywords so that anyone whose search terms included these states would not trigger your ads.

You should go to keyword details section .....check for the unwanted search terms people are using... then add some negative keywords based on the search terms....
