Help: how can I pay less per click?

Hi there,

I'm a noob, sorry for my maybe silly question.

I'm advertising in a highly competitive field. My ad is currently on average on position 1.5 and I'm paying a fortune per click.

I'm pretty sure people will click on my ad also if it is on the bottom of the ads. how can I get my ad towards the bottom?

thanks for your help.

Cheers

Hello Ephraem L

Lower your CPC-bid. You can do this on Ad group level, or do this for each keyword.
I would advice to look at your keywords. Keyword optimization is a big part of the total. Are there specific keywords that are expensive, and always have position 1. Maybe you can change the CPC bid of these keywords. Maybe you can hold them on 1 for a lower price.

Are there keywords that are off more importance than others? Maybe lower CPC costs of the keywords  that are less important.

An other thing you can do is try to get a higher quality score.

If keywords have a higher quality score you pay less per click

Do you use negative keywords? Did you look at the Search terms report, to evaluate what is going on?
