Google update : Exact Match

In late September, Google will be removing the ability to buy exact keywords which means potential spending more budget with less conversions. Some of our strongest keywords are exact match, and I believe the conversion rate would drop..

As I am relatively new to AdWords, any suggestions how we could optimise our keywords and keep our spend down whilst increase bookings?

Hi Lianne,

The first question to ask: Do you manually go and opt out of close variants?

I am guessing no, as those that do, tend to have a granular understanding of their account. In this case the answer is simple.... There will be no change to your account. It will operate exactly the same.

If you do opt out, then negative keywords are the answer. They still operate the same and a little bit of extra time here will get your account to where it was.

Good Luck

P.S. There will still be exact match, just with the addition of close variants (as is currently the default(.

Hi Clynton,

Thanks for your reply.

We do use negative keywords however we haven't looked into adding close variants keywords much. I'll look into this

Cheers
