Google AdWords Camapign

Hi,

I was running a Google AdWords campaign. I managed to get a certain number of clicks on my Ad. However, my heatmap on the website as well as Google Analytics did not record the requisite number of clicks as shown on Google AdWords. Would really like to understand the disparity on the same.

P.S. My Google analytics account is linked to my Google AdWords account

Thanks,

Cheryl

Hi @cheryl n

Clicks on an ad and sessions in Google Analytics won't necessarily always equate. Someone may click on the ad, but maybe they stopped letting it load before the GA tag fired. In that scenario it would register as a click in Adwords, but not as a session in Google Analytics.

The same thing would happen if someone were to click on your ad, land on your site and trigger a session. They then leave and click on another ad within 30 minutes of the first visit and land on the site again. Google Analytics would only count one session, but Adwords would see two clicks.

Hope that helps.

David
