Gmail Ads Targeting

I have read that Google has changed some policies on scanning gmail content.  I already do "in-market", but feel that is too broad.

Given these changes, can the group give some ideas for best practices for targeting customers in Adwords inside of Gmail ?

Hi @colin b,

You can run Remarketing which is highly targeted.

You can layer age/gender onto your in-market segments to tighten things.

You can still have a keyword targeted campaign - I believe it will default to search habits rather than scanning their email. Try poaching/competitor keywords in a separate Ad Group.

Customer match is another method, but it is hit or miss. I have yet to have success with it due to the low numbers of emails in our customers' databases.

I would also advise doing more traditional Display Network campaigns if you aren't already. Tons more volume and you can get a pretty sweet cost/lead if you set them up right.
