Format for managed placement URLs on sub pages

I want to split my Display Network Ad groups up so that they each target specific parts of a forum website plus the posts under that area.

If I specify a sub page, does Adwords look at that page and all sub pages or just that particular page?

Hi JD,
Just to make sure I understand what you're asking - so for example, you want to add test1.forum.com and test2.forum.com as targeted Placements? If so, yes, specifying these two domains should also target all the other pages in those sub-domains.
If you get really specific and add, for example, test1.forum.com/example.html - in that case only that specific page will be targeted. Does that help? Keep in mind, as with all Placements, you'll only be able to show Ads on pages where the publisher has chosen to show Ads.

Thanks very much for your response.

A good example of what I am trying to achieve is with car forums.

Say I am a maker of car accessories for Fords and I want to target owners of Fords but not Toyota's.

The forum autos.com has sub folders for each manufacturer so we have:

www.autos.com/Ford/
www.autos.com/Toyota/
www.autos.com/Cadillac/

A new, excited, Ford owner joins the forum and submits a post asking where he can buy addons for his car so a new sub directory is created for his post and people respond

www.autos.com/Ford/23342/

Another person posts a similar thread but for a Toyota

www.autos.com/Toyota/23343/

I only sell parts for Fords so I want to just target www.autos.com/Ford/ and anything that gets created underneath it so do I just put that in the managed links or will Adwords only look for advertising spaces at www.autos.com/Ford/ not www.autos.com/Ford/23342/?

Hi JD,
Sounds like a very sound strategy!
If you only want to advertise on the Ford section, yes, you can add www.autos.com/Ford/ as a Placement and that will target all the pages in the Ford section of the site.

Great, thanks for confirming that.
