Do new Adgroups start with low adrank?

I have had a campaign running for a few months. Decent CTR's, and some conversions.  SOme of the keywords only have a quality score of 7/10.

I decided to split the keywords out into single keyword adgroups to improve the quality score, which has worked.

But ...

The adrank is definitely lower for the new adgroups, its costing more to reach the top 4 spots.

Was my idea a good long term idea, and I'll just have to pay more short term?   Or was it a bad idea?

Thanks for reading.

Hi John,

Positive, it was a good long term idea. SKAGs are widely used where you don't have too many KWs.

When you applied the splitting you lost much of your relevant history and that's what may cause short-term difficulties. Keep up the good work.

Best,

Lakatos
