Do Automated rules override manually set CPC bids on adgroup level?

Hello,

I recently implemented automated rules in my accounts to simplify daily maintenance. I've arranged keywords in order of relevance and bucketed them into  ad groups. Each ad group has a rule applied to it. For example one adgroup has the rule: Increase bids 10% if avg. position is worse than 3, max bid is $1.40.

My question: Does the Max CPC in the Automated Rule override the mac CPC set in the ad group/keyword level? I'd like for the Automated Rule to override the manual bids.

Thanks!

Marie

Hi Marie,

Yes it does, because you are telling Adwords to push your bids by 10%. So it could push your keyword bids and also might go above the ad group level bids.

Hope this helps. Smiley Happy

Hi @marie g just as an additional note, if you're using automated rules to increase bids, you may want to also have a rule to decrease bids when the position gets too high.
