Hello,

We are currently working on a new location based service concept that actively gives users the chance to create content without the heavy constrictions of existing plattforms.

I am looking for Feedback on the website and its usability and structure in order to improve conversions for the site

The link to the site: www.geopieces.com

Our Business Proposition:

What is: Geopieces is a location based content network based on Google Maps

How it works: Geopieces allows user to create content based on the relevant geographic location by placing Media Pins on the map

Why use: Geopieces organizes the Content based on the Geographical Location

How we differ: Geopieces search is based on location and categories not user relationships

Geopieces provides a map based content network, selling online advertisement space and RSS based location specific marketing feeds.

Compared to existing Location based networks Geopieces offers the following advantages:

Geopieces organizes the Content based on the Geographical Location
All Users can Share their thougts, ideas, interests and opinions directly on the map
To organize your Content just Pin your Place on the World
Geopieces enables you to search for information by location and by category
Geopieces is easy to browse and search - Just mark your point of interest on the globe
Geopieces is location based, content driven and filterable by relationships

You can use Geopieces to post these Types of Content by placing a Pin anywhere on the world map:

Share your Status
Write a Blog Entry
Post a Picture
Post a Video
Share a Link
Publicize an Event

Each content type can be assigned mulitple Keywords which identify the content area it pertains to.

Thank you in Advance for your Feedback!

Hi Tonberry,

Welcome to the AdWords community.

Do you have any questions about AdWords? We're a community focused on AdWords account creation and management.

This is probably not the best place to only seek feedback on your site.

I´ve worked with adwords for the last 2 years mostly on eCommerce Sites with great success focusing on specific offerings.

The problem is now how to transfer this to a mostly content based Site. Is it usefull to mainly build around brand campaigns (which basically can only reinforce other traffic sources) or has anybody had success mainly promoting around specific content types?

Hi Tonberry,

I agree with Tom that this is Adwords Forum, where the community interacts and share knowledge about Google Adwords and how to best use that.

For additional info about structuring and organizing the website, you can refer to this link and you can re-post this question over Webmaster help forum here.

In case you have questions related to Adwords, our Community will be more than happy to assist you Smiley Happy

Hope that helps!

Pankaj

Hi Tonberry,

"I am looking for feedback on the website and its usability and structure in order to improve conversions for the site."

What are the goals of your campaign and how do you define a conversion?  A site visit? Completion of a registration form?

I would suggest that you define the goals of your advertsing campaigns first and then work on your campaigns.  At quick glance, I would guess that you're looking for sign-ups.  I would also assume that you have installed some level of conversion tracking for such user actions.  From there, I would say that you better than anyone will know what the business model looks like and who, where and how to seek your customers.  That would be the basis of how I would go about online promotion of any site.

"Is it usefull to mainly build around brand campaigns (which basically can only reinforce other traffic sources) or has anybody had success mainly promoting around specific content types?"

Branding campaigns are great if you're only looking for exposure.  If you decide to go that route, I would strongly suggest you employ GDN campaigns (Possibly even CPM based) and use some nice display ads to entice users to click your ads and further your exposure.

I'm not sure what you mean by specific content types so I can't add a whole lot to that.

From a site standpoint, I didn't spend too long over there but noticed two things immediately.

1 - The 'Explore' button has no action.  Why is it there?

2 - The 'How it works' is below the fold on my fairly large monitor.  I'm not sure what your plan is for landing pages and/or if your planning on just driving traffic to the homepage but I would make the 'What is this?' and 'How does this work?' information more prevalent and very easy to find.

Not completely sure if you've answered your questions or not.

I think both Pankaj and I noticed that your initial post seems awfully focused on describing your site/services and less on AdWords, which triggered our responses seeking more information.  This community does get spammed quite often with similar posts that are solely intended on promotion and not around seeking AdWords assistance.

If you would like any further suggestions and or help with your campaigns, please let us know.

Hope this helps!

-Tom
