Block IP address with wild cards?

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

I'd like to block every IP address starting with first three digits and three wild cards, for example 123.*.*.*

At the adwords, I have to input three numbers and only one wild card, for example 123.123.123.*

Would you please help me with this issue?

Currently the only option available is to use the wildcard only on the last three digits:

"You can use full IP addresses or the wildcard character (*) for the last 3 digits for blocks of addresses."

Hello,

Nice question.

Yes Goggle Adwords has the solution for your question. You can exclude IP address via full ID or wildcard character * for the last three digits of the addresses.

Examples:

  • 123.4.5.67
  • 123.4.5.*
  • 123.45.167.1

Thanks.

Thanks for your answer.
Does google have any plan to add blocking IP service with three wild cards?
As click bots keep changing their IP addresses, current IP block system is not good enough.

Hi WK M,

That's 16,387,064 IP addresses. Are you sure that's what you want to do?

What evidence of "click bots" do you have? How do you know they are bots?

Best of Luck!

We are collecting data for our website. And there were weird keywords which seemed to be created by bots with no doubt. Also the same IP keeps clicking our ads with no relevant keywords.

Hi WK M,

"there were weird keywords which seemed to be created by bots with no doubt". Bots can not create keywords. Only the account managers can do that. If you are using interest or demographic targeting, those will show up as "weird keywords".

"the same IP keeps clicking our ads with no relevant keywords." This could be evidence of click fraud, but it is certainly not evidence of click bots. If it's the same IP address, block that address.

It seems you are using the Display Network. CN clicks do not get attributed to any particular keyword listed on the keyword tab.

I hope this helps!

Why not give the option to use CIDR?
