Auction Insight shows data of irrelevant domains.

Our service deals with data modeling, however the competitors listed under auction insights are amazon.com, google.com etc. Ideally, these are not the real competitors. My question is that why do these domains appear under the insights and why does google show that they are competing with our ads when they are not the actual competitors.

Hi Ashiya,

Welcome to the community!

The Auction insight report lets you compare your performance with other advertisers who are participating in the same auctions that you are. Amazon and Google may not be your direct competitors, but your selected keywords are entering in the auction with the keywords in their campaigns.

For example if you are using the generic keyword like 'data modeling' you may be competing with Amazon for ad space as they may have a lot of book related to 'data modeling' and using the same keyword in their Adwords campaign.

Please analyze your search query report and keyword match type, and make sure your ads are appearing for relevant queries related to your business.

Just a thought.

Deepak

It is an indication for sure. That's the reason I suggested to check your keyword match type and search query report (to make sure your ads are appearing for relevant searches).

You can also use ad preview tool to check you ads and competitor ads next to your ads.

So does that mean that we are not competing with the actual competitors for the ad space? And yes, our Keyword search queires are always under check and about 99% are relevant now thanks to the negative kw analysis, however there are very few books related quries that we do not omit because they are related to the service, do you suggest we remove them to get better competition on ad space?
