Adding Keywords just to give Adwords a better idea of the topic?

We have a client who is working in a small niche of a big market so Adwords is struggling to filter out irrelevant search terms.

It's like we are bidding on Grapefruit Sorbet and getting clicks  for Orange Juice.

Negatives are not really working and we have to use broad ...it's a very small niche and we need to keep the door open.

So I thought about adding some "Ghost Keywords" that do not have any search volume but flag the topic.... in this example it would be [very cold Grapefruit ice] or [Grapefruit ice for you]

Can this work?

Cheers

Hi Sense Australia

No, These Ghost Keywords would not work.. Try to contact with Google Adwords Support. Probably they will Solve.

Thanks

Hi Sense Australia,

That won't work for a search campaign. It would work for a display campaign.

Have you considered using BMM instead of broad? Also, run the search terms report often and keep adding negative keywords until you effectively block irrelevant queries.

Best of Luck!
