AdWords Link Checker Script Not Working Correctly

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Hi,

I've set up a script to check for broken errors on my ads using this tutorial - https://developers.google.com/adwords/scripts/docs/solutions/link-checker

I've managed to get the script to run but when it completes and lists all the URL's they all give a response code of 200. When checking some of the links there are 404 errors on them.

Does anyone know why the spreadsheet is not showing the correct code, and why the Campaign, AdGroup, Ad etc are not being pulled through to the spreadsheet also.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,

Thanks for posting those links and the additional information. To be honest from what I researched on the Link Checker page and the Community threads, this broken error issue should not occur if you created the spreadsheet-based script with the source code as shown. Here's my suggestions:

1. Let's post up this issue on the Google Scripts forum as Theresa suggested. The Top Contributors from that forum might be able to give us better insight on what's causing this issue.

2. Can you also confirm if your Link Checker has not exceeded the 20,000 URLs a day limitation (due to quota limitations of UrlFetchApp).

Hi Adam,

Thanks for posting on our Community forum. In order to troubleshoot your issue, can you answer the following?

  • How many of the URL's have actual 404 errors?
  • Does it occur consistently?
  • For testing purposes, please post a few of the URL's in this thread.

Awaiting your reply,

Hi John,

To answer your points -

1. There's about 11 pages with 404 errors (the links are all the same format)
2. It does occur consistently.
3. Here's some of the links that don't work:

Thanks for trying to help.

Adam
