Dear Professionals,

Have a good day. I would like to know one thing which is much concerning for me right now i want to block Abbreviations from my target keywords list e.g. PDF, CV, API,. My Question is this how should I block these keywords should I block these in broad match (PDF, CV, API) or in phrase match ("PDF", "CV", "API") If I block these abbreviations in broad match will it heart my targeted keywords like (PDFCU, CVP, Apic,) Or should I block these keywords in phrase match kindly let me know.

Thanks

Hi Raheem,

Negative broad match behaves differently from a normal (positive) broad match as it will not match synonyms, plurals, ... This different behaviour is to protect you from inadvertently hurting your campaigns.

So, coming back to your question, since you want to exclude single words (abbreviations) you can either use negative phrase match or negative broad match, they will both have the same result: search terms with that abbreviation will be excluded.

A small addition to Ken's great answer, the phrase match type is designed for phrases more than 1 word, in your case adding a single word as phrase match type it will be treated as a broad match type and there will be no difference as Ken explained.
