Is it possible to run a an ad with multiple URL's that change every time the ad is served up?


Through trial and error, we have found a very effective ad and now are wanting to deliver the traffic to 3 different areas within the same website and track conversions on these specific pages.


Understand that we cannot duplicate the same ad with different URL's. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Charles,

The best way to do this is to actually create 3 ads, all in the same ad group and all the same except for the destination URL. Then set your rotation to evenly for at least 90 days if not forever. Then accumulate your data and see which page converts the best.

I completely agree with pete on this.

The only way to do this is set 3 duplicate ads up in an adgroup and set the ad rotation setting to either Rotate Evenly or Rotate Indefinitely. This setting will help you ensure that the 3 ads are given equal opportunity to appear on the SERP and record traffic individually. This is very important as it will not be a fair comparison between the ad copies if one or two of them had the maximum impression share and the 3rd did not get a chance to perform.

Could you clarify why exactly it is that you cannot duplicate the ads here?

I would recommend going by the solution given by Pete and shashank, but if you don't have option to create duplicate ads. You can go with following solution.

1) Create a PHP/ASP landing page that would redirect users to one of three pages along with parameters. (Sub-Domain has to be same for all three)

Above will give you results for all 3 landing page, but not if you want to track landing page performance by keyword / creative / placements, audience, etc.

2) Track Creative ID and GLCID to landing page
3) Create 3 Offline Conversions into Your Account
4) Split your offline data by landing page and upload GLCID into separate offline conversions

Hope this helps, but please understand that it is a work around and not the ideal solution for testing, you should be using three separate ads for such multivariate test.
