More certifications -> Partner Status Warning?

I recently took all of the specialist exams - previously I was only certified in Search.  Suddenly I have a warning saying my company is at risk of losing it's Partner status????

I wonder, should I have just stopped after the Search specialist status?   (where I have more active consulting role in the past.)

Will I soon regret taking/passing the other exams?

or will I lose partner status in ONLY those specialties where performance is too low?

This is very unclear.  Please help me understand.

Hi @scottclark,

That is great to hear that you participated in the specialist challenge. Simply taking the exams (pass or fail) should not disqualify you for being a badged Google Partner, so it seems that two possibilities are at play.

1) The warning has nothing to do with exams but is a real warning for performance, spend, etc... with bad timing.

2) The exams triggered an error with your account on some kind that can be resolved.

Badged Google Partner status is not awarded per exam but by passing AdWords Fundamentals and one other specialty... and meeting spend levels, performance requirements, having a completed company profile and a AdWords Manager Account active for 12 months.

Look over all the action bars in your account and see what they say, along with looking at your two main certifications that are required and see if their expiration dates are close. If you have a Partners support rep, contact them on Monday and ask them what is happening. A warning is given to provide time to resolve whatever it is (if it it not an error), so you should have time (30-45 days) to fix it.

Kind Regards,

James

@scottclark - I agree with J Clemens' info. Passing the certs and Partner Status warning are not related from what I can tell. But it is possible that one triggered an error. Although I haven't heard of that ever happening before.

I'd navigate through to your account profile, dig deeper on the links for the respective status that seems to be at risk (performance, spend, certs, etc.), search this community for similar posts. There's been a few partner posts about partner status showing various warnings. Ultimately, search partner portal and see if your agency name is still showing up in the results, that's how you can tell whether or not your agency partner status is valid or not

Will I retain my partner status as long as ONE specialty is meeting the minimum performance challenges for company score?

Or is the score an aggregate among all specialties that I TURNED ON by taking the exams?

Hi @scottclark,

The term specialty is referred to as a new metric within the badged Google Partners system, which you can see within your agency profile and actually get a dynamic badge that shows the additional specialties a agency has earned.

With that said, we have to maintain a certification in AdWords Fundamentals and one other specific exam (not Analytics). So, specialties are optional, Analytics is optional... Fundamentals and one other (search, display, etc.) is mandatory. Performance comes from actual Adwords accounts managed within a AdWords Manager Account.

Please take a look at a post I wrote that discusses all of this.

Kind Regards,

James

Scott:

I had a similar issue with the warning. It apparently was due to a glitch in the new UI. It took some time, but I'm glad to report performance & specializations now show in my account.

You definitely won't regret taking the other tests.
