business address changed, have 2 accounts

Hi,

I am quite computer illiterate so excuse me if i may have overlooked the answer to this on here!

Our business address has changed (since April!). We registered the new address on google but have now realised we may have opened one previously for the old address, but i cannot remember any details to log in! So now the same business, in the same town is registered with different addresses! How do we merge them together? i have tried requesting ownership but it simply says 'request sent'. our customers are going to the wrong address! :(

Many thanks

Hi @Samantha H

It would help to answer your question if you could post the profile pages, or at least the name and old/new address of your business, kind of hard to say much for sure before then.

That said, a few things that jump out. The first, it's more than possible that you never did make the previous profile, Google will actually automatically create a business profile for businesses they think exist, and they do that based off everything from government records, to business profiles on other sites (Yelp and so on). If you've got a new, claimed account (you got your verification postcard and all that for the account with your new address) then you can call up support, and hopefully they'll be able to get the old profile merged into your new one. To contact Google's help, go here:

You'll need to get those two profiles merged anyway, since having a duplicates like that can get them both flagged as spam.

Another issue too, it's important to have the information for your business the same across as many places your business is talked about as possible. Updating your profile on Google is important of course, but you should also take the time to go and clean up any other places where your old address is mention on the internet. That might be places like Yelp or BBB, but it could be a lot of other places too. If you do a Google search for your old address plus your phone number or your business name, that can help you find all of the places your business might be listed with the wrong address.

Hi Samantha, yes please provide the business details that James requested.

If they are two different addresses, the former can be reported closed.
