Why does "invite owner" not actually send me an invite? I have a registered google address.[ Edited ]

I accidentally created my MyBusiness page while logged into my client's Google account. Despite Google's claims in the "help" docs, there appears to be no way to correct this without deleting the page and starting over. I tried adding my Google account as an owner to the MyBusiness page so I could transfer ownership per the "help" doc, but the invite is never actually sent to my Google account so it can never happen. This is so frustrating. Too many layers of outdated "help" docs that don't help.
