Hi, I'm all thumbs when it comes to this google stuff.  I'm trying but I'm pretty lost.  My mother HAD a business and shows up in google with a pin on the map and sometimes a red circle with a square.  I took over the business and gave it a new name.  I created a google business account but I can't seem to get a pin on the map.  My mother's old business seems to take over.  How can we remove her business. She's still around so getting her permission is not an issue.

Her business was Barbara McMullan's Auto Tags and mine is Paula Risley's Auto Tags.

at first you should report your Mom's biz as closed.
the other point is about a place label for your own business:

Is a matter of Googles algos getting or not getting a place label like your mom got it at her time.

Thank you for the information.
1). How do I report the biz, as you put it, closed to Google?

2) I read up on the "place label" and my business has been verified. So how do I request a "place label" or does that happen by chance or automatically?

@1: just search the business in GMaps and then "suggest an edit"

@2: there is in fact no option to request a "place label" - it happens in case their algos consider it relevant enough
