Removing a business from maps

Hey guys,

I've recently started doing some work for a company and they've pointed out that they have a number of clinics listed on Google Maps that no longer exist or have moved location. In the cases where the clinics have simply changed location, they've created a new listing rather than changing the old one, including a case where they only moved over the road so now maps shows the same listing twice!

They do not have ownership of the listings, they were placed by a previous developer, how do we access them to remove the old listings? We can no longer get hold of the previous developer.

Thanks all,

Ryan

I've just tried using the steps on this link... https://support.google.com/business/answer/4566671?hl=en

However, when I click on the listing that I want to remove, it doesn't say I need to request ownership, instead it asks me to claim this business, I'm then taken to a page where I tick a box to state I'm authorised to manage the business and it then creates a new listing again? The listing I need to remove is on this link https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Total+Health+Care+Clinic/@52.4978551,-0.3660591,10z/data=!4m8!1m... that location no longer exists but I can't find a way to remove it, can anyone help?

It seems to me oyu did not understand how Google works - sorry to say.

you can't claim or get the ownership transferred for listings of a moved or closed business location.

Such locatione need to reported as closed.

The procedure as per this link... https://support.google.com/business/answer/4566671?hl=en is for such listing still verified and managed by an owner of the listing  and existing at the location

It enables to request getting the ownership transferred - with is quti different as to "claim" it.
