Inability to completely remove Google My Business Content is possibly against the law!

1) It's currently only possible to mark a business as "permanently closed" as can be read here and here

2) Selecting to remove a business in the GMB admin doesn't remove the content from Google Search and elsewhere!

I want to remove all information related to my old business since it no longer exists and is no longer relevant. And perhaps most importantly - I should be in complete control over my own company data.

Lastly there's no way to contact Google to get this done, going to these forums is sadly a last resort.

Aside from being completely user unfriendly it also seems to be breaking the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Please get this fixed!

Hi @Paul S - we are mostly volunteers on this forum and it sounds like you need to reach out to GMB directly. You can always reach out to GMB on Twitter or Facebook , usually takes 1-5 business days, or even request to talk to a specialist

Hey @Paul S

The  General Data Protection Regulation  don't enforce Google  to remove a listing of a GMB listing being marked as permanntly closed from their database nor do they enforce Google to give a businesss owner the full control about what Google  shows by their GMB listing about a busuiness.

If Google, FB and other Internet platforms would be enforced to give business owners the full control  they couldn't even attach user photos, reviews, booking information and other third party info to the knowledge panel of a a certain listing.

Feel free to hire an EU lawyer  in case you don't agree with Googles doing and insisting to show a closed listings as such in GMaps or in GSearch.

I'm curious to learn from your case then  whether or not such a lawyer will have success.
