Hijacked business listing

Hello,

 

My business is Center for Behavioral Sciences.  I have owned the business since it began, in 2004.  A former employee registered our Google business listing to his personal gmail account.  Our attorneys got involved and the former employee claims to have deleted the listing.  But he apparently did not. 

 

I tried to transfer ownership on Google, and received a notice that the purported owner would have seven days to respond.  I didn't hear anything further about that, and it was weeks ago.  I have followed up by attempting to establish ownership on Google.  There is a popup asking whether I would like to receive verification information by email (the email address is expired as our server has changed); or by postcard.  I selected postcard, but Google keeps responding "failed." It asks me to try again.

 

I can't seem to get anywhere with this.  The listing has outdated information.  Can anyone help me get control of the account?

As I can see, the listing that you mentioned is no longer verified, as you can see the blue “Claim this business” button:

This probably explains why you are getting this message, as the listing is no longer “Owned” by anyone else.

 

Please proceed by removing all the existing listings on your dashboard, by following the instructions here: Google My Business Help -> Remove a location.

 

Then, make a fresh attempt to verify your listing. As your old email server isn’t operative, I believe the only option is to request a postcard and wait for it to arrive.

@Time Lord Thank you for the advice.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working.  I removed all of the existing listings on my dashboard, and then tried to set up the listing again.  The old listing still showed up, I noted that I am the owner, and it stated "failed" when I tried to verify by postcard.

 

Please let me know if there is any other solution.

Could you please repeat the process with another account that has never been used to claim a listing with Google My Business, perhaps?

 

I am unable to replicate the error, as I am able to get until the screen to request a postcard, without errors:

@Time Lord I am also able to get to that screen.  However, when I press "Mail," it says "failed."  I tried using my other account, and had the same result.

If there is anyone who can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.  If Google could simply delete the listing so I can establish a new one, that would work, too.  But I am unable to verify and update my business' listing, even though I have spent hours trying to fix this.

Thank you.  I also contacted Google soon after your message yesterday, and am still waiting for a response.  If there is anyone with information who can help me with this, I would appreciate it.  It is frustrating and harmful to our business when we can't control our own business listing.
