Google/YouTube URL

Hi there,

I was hoping to get some assistance with my Google+ and YouTube pages. I'm looking to update the custom URL for my pages as we've been acquired by another company and I need to update our branding and identity to reflect this. I have made all of the updates I can, such as the display name, graphics, and other details but I am unable to change the custom URLs for the pages.

The reason we would like to update the custom URLs is so that we don't lose, or have to recreate, any details; for example we have a number of customer reviews associated with our current Google+ page. I think I've seen that changing a custom URL is not something that's normally permitted and it was not something we ever anticipated having to do, but it is something we'd like to do to save any duplication or loss of content.

Here is a blog post announcing the acquisition and the creation of UpriseVSI...
http://www.vsi-thinking.com/blog/uprise-marketing-acquire-web-development-and-technology-company-vsi...

These are our current YouTube and Google+ pages...
https://www.youtube.com/user/VSIthinking
https://plus.google.com/+Vsi-thinking

I've checked our preferred new URLS and they do not appear to be in use currently. The new URLs we would like, if possible, would be...
https://www.youtube.com/user/UpriseVSI
https://plus.google.com/+UpriseVSI

I appreciate any help or advice you'd be able to offer on this request.

Thanks,
Craig

Hi @Uprise V,

Unfortunately, once you've created a custom URL, you are unable to change it per this Help Center article. So sorry that we're unable to help in this instance!

Best,

Liz

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for getting back to me, I thought that might be the case unfortunately. If we were to create a new Google+ and YouTube profile, using the new URLs, would we be able to merge the existing pages with the new ones? We've got a number of great reviews from our customers which I'd like to transfer across, so I'd rather not lose them or have to ask them to review us again.

Thanks,
Craig

Hi Craig,

In some cases, we may move reviews upon a request to support. I can't guarantee that your reviews would be moved, but per the linked article, it sounds like you would be eligible to request this.

Let me know if I can help further!

Liz

Hi Liz,

Thanks for getting back to me, that sounds like the solution I'm looking for. What would be the next step, should I setup Google+ and YouTube profiles under the new identity now?

Also, how do I make the request to move the reviews? I'm not seeing a form or anything to make this request.

Thanks,
Craig

Hi Craig,

Yes--go ahead and set up the new pages, then you can request a call from our team here. I would recommend sharing the situation with them, and let them know two things: first, that you would like to have the original page listed as moved and directed to the new page; second, that you would like the reviews moved over from the old page to the new page.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Best,
Liz

Hi, @ElizabethP. We're having this trouble as well, but we've never set a YouTube URL. There currently appears to be an auto-generated URL for youtube (universityofutahsjquinneycollegeoflawsaltlakecity). I really want to start doing some paid promotion for subscribers to our YouTube channel, but I can't proceed until I get a better URL. Tips or advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks
