Duplicate Google+ Accounts for the same business

Hello, let me get the formalities out of the way first.

Company Name: SkyMotion Video

Current Business Address: 183 King St E, Ingersoll ON, CANADA

Current telephone number: 1-647-478-4322

I initially asked this question on the Google+ help section.

I seem to have set up two Google+ accounts for my company.

https://plus.google.com/111436652737822350449
AND
https://plus.google.com/103650311217237575027

The second one is not wanted. It even has a different header image, and does not contain any posts at all.

The response I received was:

The second link is to a Google local business page, if it is unwanted you should be able to transfer the local verification to the other page. It can not be deleted until the local element is transferred.

I was then directed here to seek assistance.

And so, I am seeking help to transfer the local verification from

https://plus.google.com/103650311217237575027

to

https://plus.google.com/111436652737822350449

and then remove https://plus.google.com/103650311217237575027

I hope that is clear. Thank you in advance.

Hi @Chuck T

I just need to confirm a bit more information please - though your post was very clear indeed! Why are you seeking to remove this page from Google+ https://plus.google.com/103650311217237575027/about?

Is it simply because you've got more traction on the Brand page https://plus.google.com/111436652737822350449/about? Or do you want to remove your business from Google maps altogether?

The reason I ask is because the advice provided to you already is slightly wrong in that you can't actually delete a location page from Google's database. Linking the brand page to the location page as advised will still leave you with a local listing on Google's maps - is that what you want or do you not want to have a Maps listing at all?

Hi, I want to keep my maps listing. Is there was to transfer this to the Brand page? https://plus.google.com/111436652737822350449/about? You are correct in that it does better than this other Google+ Page https://plus.google.com/103650311217237575027/about? - the one I am seeking to remove. It is very complicated because the brand page has news, video, and has people who follow it. However, if someone goes to this second page, they see nothing. Am I expected to re-upload and re-post everything a second time, and then have followers divided between two separate Google+ Pages for my company. I'm just very confused as to why there is two. Thank you for you help! - Chuck -- Chuck Taylor

Hi @Chuck T

Thanks for that clarification.

You need to follow the steps in this article: https://support.google.com/business/answer/6010825?hl=en choosing the option "I"ve already created a page for my business but it is not connected to Google Maps."

You do need to be an owner of both pages to do this.

This will allow you to connect your brand page to Maps, so you won't lose your posts / followers etc from the Brand page AND you will still have a listing on Google Maps with your address, contact details etc.

Once that's all done you can delete the page titled 'backup of...' and that will remove it from your dashboard as well as the database (which I think is what Rupert meant in his original comment on the G+ Help community).

If you have any problems / questions don't hesitate to ask!

Hi, So I'm working my way through the solution that was offered, but I hit a snag when I go to 'Connect a different page'. I have attached two images which displays what I see. I can click on the 'Connect a different page' button, but the window which comes up does not actually let me do anything. There is no option to choose a different page, as that selection already has something in its place (the page I do not want). Do I need to first delete that Google+ page that I do not want? Thanks again. I feel that I am getting closer to resolving this! - Chuck -- Chuck Taylor

Hi Chuck, I'm sorry but the screenshot didn't come through. Could you try again please? You might have to use a third party hosting site like imgur.com as sometimes this forum doesn't allow people to upload images :(
