Cannot add Managers to GMB location: "There was a problem completing this action. Please try again."

Hi guys,

I manage several business locations in Google My Business and want to add an extra Manager to one of them. When I enter an email I get the error message:

There was a problem completing this action. Please try again.

From old forum threads, it looks like Google has been aware of this and attempting to fix for at least a year now! Has anyone found a work-around?

Hi @Lachlan W,

Thanks for writing, and I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue. I'd recommend this article or this video for information on how to add a manager to your page. I'm also looking into any possible issues with this on my end.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Liz

Hi Liz,

Thanks so much for getting back to me.

The property is unverified and its Google+ page has been identified as possible spam and blocked, could this be the reason? I have no idea why it's been marked as spam, I've checked the guidelines it refers to and I don't believe we've violated any of them.

Is there anything we can do to find out more information, or should we just wait to see if the verification code arrives in the mail and verify the property then?

Hi Lachlan,

Can you send me the URL for your G+ page so I can take a look at our back end system? For now, I think it would be a good idea to wait the 7 days to see if your postcard arrives.

In the meantime would you also be able to provide timestampped screenshots of when you are seeing the error? In order to include these in-line here, you can click into "full reply editor" in the lower right hand corner, and there is an option to add in photos.

Thanks so much!
Liz

Hi Liz,

I'm afraid I can't post screenshots here as I need to protect the client's privacy. Can I send these to you in a direct message?

Hi Lachlan,

Can you send through the G+ link so I can take a look that way?

Thanks!

Hi Liz, not if it's going to be published here I'm afraid :(

Is there any other support I can contact in Australia? I've tweeted @GoogleSmallBiz but had no reply.

Hi Liz,

I am having a similar issue to Lachlan. When I follow the steps in the video it doesn't show the error any more but it seems to just get stuck after clicking invite. In the console I'm getting sever server status 400 errors. I don't know if that is helpful at all for trouble shooting the backend but I think it does seem to implicate that if your business has been blocked as spam it doesn't want to let the requests go through.

The errors are below...
The warning is as far as I know something that is present on all Google+ pages so I have left that our from here...

Hi Lachlan and Will,

In order to troubleshoot further, I would need the public G+ URL for the business pages in question. If you'd like to contact support directly, you can use the "need more help" options in the upper right hand corner of our help center.

Our Twitter handle, @GoogleMyBiz, is also staffed by my team, and they would need the same information as I do in order to troubleshoot further.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Best,
Liz

Having same issue- The property is unverified and its Google+ page has been identified as possible spam and blocked, could this be the reason? I have no idea why it's been marked as spam, I've checked the guidelines it refers to and I don't believe we've violated any of them.

I need to add a manager, so they can transfer ownership.
