Another marker showed up at our address

Hi all.

Here is the information I was told to include:

Business name: Thai Kosai

Current address: 5 Toynbee Street, London E1 7NE

Current phone: 020 7247 8495

Google+ URL:

At our location on Google Maps, there is a recent addition, called Petticoat Lane Market, with the same address (5 Toynbee Street). The location for this recent addition is incorrect and a duplicate of the main one, here:,-0.0660594/Petticoat+Lane+Market+Middlesex+Street/@51.5...

On Google Maps I marked the Toynbee Street version as a duplicate, and got an email from Google saying my edit was 'in review'.

My questions are:

1. Was that the right thing to do, and is there anything else I can do?

2. It has completely killed our local rankings (presumably as Google is confused over whether there is a duplicate at our address) so is there any way I can escalate my edit to whoever looks at this stuff at Google?

If anyone can help I would *really* appreciate it

I don't undertstand how you can consider your business listing being as a duplicate of or vice versa.

Please elaborate

Hi Helmut
Thank you for looking. Sorry, I was not clear.
If I follow the second of the two links you posted (the 'correct' Petticoat Lane Market), then on my Maps I can see (about 250m North) a second marker also labelled Petticoat Lane Market. This second marker is at 5 Toynbee St, which is actually the location of my business.
Perhaps this link will let you see the erroneous marker:,-0.0751745,18z/data=!4m12!1m6!...

Since I made my post I have tried to remove the erroneous Petticoat Lane Market marker on Map Maker. It seems to have helped somewhat, but I can still see the marker

Thanks again!!

Hi Helmut,
I have maybe another way to illustrate the problem
If you:
1. Load up a new map and search for "5 Toynbee Street, London"
2. Zoom all the way in
3. Hit the 'X' to the right of the search bar
Right then (for me anyway) the incorrect marker for Petticoat Lane Market appears! There is no marker visible for my business (but I guess that could be a post for another day)

I understood the problem you started to describe from the beginning as in MapMaker the bloody "Petticoat Lane Market" was visible near your Thai massage business.

But after some action I took on your issue  it disappeared from your location and now I can't see it anymore there (neither on MapMaker nor on GMaps).

I now see it only at this map with the address "Middlesex St, London E1 7JF"

And it's only visible with a place label at the correct location as with this link and this screenshot little bit below the red marker for a coordinate search

When I asked you about considering yours and the market as duplicates then because of the fact both listings have complete different content -

You therefore got very reasonable the  rejection of reporting them as duplicates.

First off - thanks for taking such a detailed look

Second - I don't know what voodoo you did but great that you can no longer see the rogue marker!!

Hopefully it clears off mine soon as for the time being I can still see both markers (see image attached)

Shall I give G-Maps a bit of time to settle down?

Thanks again
