The webpage doesn't show ads in the format of your ads on the selected device.

Hi,

I've created a new AdWords campaign, type: Search Network only - Mobile app installs and I don't know why I cant see my ads showing. I did search the ads on my iPhone and on the location I'm targeting but no luck.

If I run a quick status report over a keyword I have this message:

The webpage doesn't show ads in the format of your ads on the selected device.

After I go and use Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool an select the devices I'm running for I get this message:

Your ads are only eligible to show for the mobile operating systems that you've selected in your campaign settings.

How can I fix this?

Thank you,

Mark

Hey Mark,

The most likely reason for such a notification is - very narrow targeting. Make sure your campaign targeting is not too restrictive. Add broader yet relevant keywords/targeting and bid sufficiently on them.

There's similar thread here.

I just found the answer. It has nothing to do with narrow targeting as seen in previous opinions. When you run a keyword diagnoses, the disapproval error we're seeing - The webpage doesn't show ads in the format of your ads on the selected device - defaults to desktop, which means this is a desktop disapproval. By nature of the campaign type - "Search Network - mobile app installs," our ads aren't showing up on desktops anyway, so the error should be disregarded, and only considers ads being disapproved on desktops.

If you're performing searches from your phone and still not seeing them, that appears to be a result of some other cause, which could be several different things - budget, delivery method, conflicting keywords across campaigns, etc, but the alert in question certainly has nothing to do with "targeting."

Hope this helps.
